This is a free tool provided by Google that uses hidden code in website pages to track and report website activity. A dashboard interface is used to manage the information produced, which can then be configured to generate reports on what matters to you. Google and other websites also offer several online guides on how to use it, giving you the guidance you need to get the most out of Google Analytics.

These include;
- How many visitors
- How long did they stay
- How many pages on average were viewed
- How did they get there (direct, search, social media etc.)
- Where in the world
- Which pages are popular
Getting Started
You will need a Google Account, you probably already have one although you might not realise. Your website designer will normally set up analytics for you. If not tutorials are available such as this one from MOZĀ The Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Google Analytics
